We’ve had four housesitters in the year we’ve been members. One is coming back for a third time this summer. Every one we’ve had has been nothing less than perfect in every way. This amazing service has given us freedom to travel without the high cost and uncertainty of paid daycare. I have spoken so hightly about TH, that I’ve recruited 3 members this year and now have 6 extra months added to my membership for the year. Great GREAT company.

This was our fifth time to use TrustedHousesitters and, with just one exception that happened a couple of years ago, this was great. We will continue being members.

Mutually beneficial set-up which works so well when you identify the right people for your situation. Easy to navigate and so far we have found super people to look after our pet and home. We are now thinking we will also use the site to help others

Wow what an adventure to be able to live like a local and experience what it would be like to really live in an new city! Austin and area (especially the Hill Country) has so much to see and do! We always had a pet in our lives until retirement when we decided not to replace our last one when she went. This has been a great way to get lots of cuddles but still be able to travel and see different places. We highly recommend this as a way to travel!

Overall idea is cool.. but PAY to be a sitter, wth?It is YOU to get paid for that, lol. I’d prefer to use free alternatives.

Since years I have obtained quite a number of housesits through trustedhousesitters.com and without any exception, the sits were exactly as advertized. The system by which both parties are scanned and the smart procedure for obtaining honest reviews, make sure that both home owners and housesitters enter an agreement that will result in an experience that meets the expectations. I never had a bad experience.

This was my 4th booking with Trusted Housesitters. From my experience, the home/pet owners that sign up for this exchange are gracious, kind and responsive without exception. Whatever little bumps in the road that might crop up during a sit pale in comparison with the overall goodness that comes from traveling and sitting with the referred households. This platform is amazing. Paying one annual membership fee, the value after one sit has paid for itself. From long to short sits – the platform has so many friendly and trustworthy/experienced sitters. My dog is a rescue and kennels are not an Option due to his prior abuse and senior age. The peace of mind Knowing my home is safe and my dog is safe and comfortable at home, is priceless. The app encourages sitters and hosts to text/facetime so you really form a bond with the sitter too. What a fantastic concept for pet parents and travellers alike. Highly recommend.

TrustedHousesitters is a great resource for traveling and spending time with pets without an exchange of money. It provides great opportunities for those who are looking to experience unique housesits and travels. My partner and I have really enjoyed my time using TH. The mobile app could really use some improvements, though.

THS is a fab service for those looking to travel/spend time with pets. I have used it as ‘free’ accommodation to visit friends & work remotely. Also used it to ‘practice’ with different breeds of dog before committing to my own. Search facility is great, comms perfect & community friendly!

I love to travel by bike, and a housesit with furry friends is a welcome oasis every now and then. I love to find a sit, explore the area and have friendly company showing me the local green spaces. House owners put their faith in me to care for both their homes and their pets and I find great satisfaction doing both.

The sitters that I have had are incredible people. I trusted them with my house and my dog. I do have one complaint. If someone wants to cancel last minute all they have to do is give a good story. No checks and balances. We canceled one trip due to that. I wont use that sitter again.

If it was just because I had a bad experience with a dog sitter I wouldn’t put in this review. But it’s the way Trustedhousesitters handled my complaint.I’ve used trustedhousesitters for 6 years. I had excellent experiences. 5 star ratings on both sides, excellent communication back-and-forth. My Welcome Guide full of instructions on everything. Pictures of the outside of my house, each room the dog sitter will be using. Any special instructions on my dogs or anything in the house. My dogs medications, garbage days….My last dog sitter was a nightmare. I posted on trustedhousesitters, the days and times of my flights. So when my dog sitter applied for it, she knew exactly the days and times she was needed. It stated that my dogs we’re not left more than two hours at a time in the Welcome Guide plus in messages. And in a zoom call.But the day before our trip, she inform me that she wouldn’t be showing up until one pm. She didn’t want to leave home so early. Our flight was at 10 am and I left the house at 8:30 am. Leaving my dogs for more than four and a half hours. On her departure, she left at 3 pm, our flight arrival was 9:30 pm. Leaving my dogs for 6 plus hours. Her reason was she didn’t want to drive home in the dark. I had to find someone to come and let them out and sit with them for a while. No updates, photos or videos during my trip. I had to reach out to her during my trip. On our arrival home our 2 senior short-haired miniature dachshunds where exhausted. They slept all day all night for 2 days. Then we found out a few days later from 3 separate neighbours that she had locked them outside in minus cold temperatures. They have never been left outside. They always have access to get back in. Our backyard has no shelter or a warm area. The neighbours said they barked hysterically. That they sounded stressed.My one dog before I left on my trip was full of energy. Chasing her ball. Eating enthusiastically. On my return from my trip she was mopey, a clingy dog, following me from room to room. And not getting up in the morning to eat. I took her to my vet. From her behaviour my vet said it was due to stress. I put in a complaint with Trustedhousesitters. I did have proof of no contact during my trip and I had my neighbours as proof but Trustedhousesitters won’t use 3rd parties. Or my vet report. Or my word on the major change in my dogs behaviour. The investigation concluded and she received a warning and her profile will be monitored. A slap on the wrist for abusing dogs.And the fact that they don’t step in on the reviews. She gave me a rating of 3 because my dogs had bad behaviour because they barked throughout the day. And barked at night. They were barking throughout the day because they were locked outside in freezing cold weather. I gave her a 3 rating as well because of no updates, photos or videos. And for arriving 4 1/2 hours late and leaving 6 hours early. I wrote the review before I heard from my neighbours. I would have given her an one star. And warned others looking at her profile that she shouldn’t be caring for pets. Then after she received the concluding decision of the investigation she wrote a review on me. Stating that the THS had launched an investigation on me and that I wasn’t honest and had left a malicious review of her. And that she was found at no fault and that they had fully complied with THS code of conduct. And that my conduct was unethical and untrustworthy. I was thinking did you receive a different email about the investigation then me? WTH!Trustedhousesitters never tampers with members reviews. But the day I reported this the review she had given me it was taken down. It was a 100% lie and THS obviously knew it or they wouldn’t have taken it down. I asked how they handled it. They did nothing. She is still up and running with Trustedhousesitters.Trustedhousesitters allows people on their site to lie. Allows people to abuse animals. Allows people that can’t comply to the schedule that they applied for. And THS think that’s okay.I haven’t and won’t be renewing my membership. Shame on Trustedhousesitters. They need to change their policies.

Great experience leaving your home to someone verified by TrustedHousitters.. Very pleased with the whole arrangement…great communication with the sitters. I highly recommend this site if you want to leave your pets and home in capable hands and have peace of mind.

We have been exceptionally lucky with fabulous sitters during our three year membership of THS. The first time we used the service we invested a lot of time checking out profiles and reviews. This was invaluable as we managed to find, first time, sitters with whom we’ve had great chemistry and who have returned several times. This experience gave us confidence to use THS again and use other sitters which we have had three others. They have all been fabulous, committed to looking after our pets and home and in whom we have placed trust. The fact that THS is mutually beneficial to both sides, I believe, is one of the ingredients for its success. No one is paying each other for their service – whether that be by way of a temporary play to stay for the sitter or pet care for the house owner. Founded on mutual respect this service has worked very well for us and we will continue to use it for the foreseeable future and continue to recommend it to others

I pay my fees and hope that in good and bad times it’s worth it. Yes. THS were great and when we needed them, they were there for us.

This is an amazing way to meet lovely people who are travelling around the world to have great adventures as well as providing excellent and free care for much loved pets whilst their owners are taking a break or holiday. Yes there’s an annual membership fee but it’s still way cheaper than pet boarding or professional pet homecare visiting charges. And I never found any real difficulty getting a house and pet sitter during my membership. There’s also plenty of help and support available if you do encounter any difficulties.The customer service team are amazing and very helpful and easy to talk to online.My pet sadly died last year so I’m not renewing my membership right now but wouldn’t hesitate to recommend THS to anyone who either wants to explore a free or very low cost home based option for pet care and enjoys meeting new people and welcoming them to care for your home and pet whilst you’re away.Or if you want some adventures of your own which includes looking after pets in different locations or countries.I’m certainly considering doing exactly that myself once I can retire from work.THS also promptly refunded the automatic renewal of my membership policy today after I contacted them around the sad loss of my pet and couldn’t have been kinder or more helpful

Trusted Housesitters has made traveling even more fun! It’s not always fun to stay in hotels when visiting other places and this makes it way more affordable and fun to explore new landscapes. We enjoy opening our home to people who want to travel and love our dogs just as much as we do. Our first housesitter experience was top notch and we are excited to do it again.

I am so very glad that I was introduced to Trusted Housesitters a year ago. Our neighborhood pet-friendly craft brewery held an adoption event and I was able to talk to some of the people who are a part of the organization to learn how they operate. it came at the perfect time for us to sign up and has more than paid for itself since! I like that they do background checks and vet the sitters thoroughly, it made me feel like I really could trust them. I will continue to use their services as long as we have furbabies (and a gecko) in our lives!

I have just completed my fourth house/pet sit, and it went perfectly. Things that have made my experiences with TrustedHousesitters work so well are: the range of places to sit, the comprehensive information about a pet/house that help with selection of where to sit and the facilitation of communication between me and the owners. The service was recommended to me by a friend and I have recommended it to others also. Not for everyone of, but perfect for someone who likes to travel visiting places feeling more like a local than a tourist and of course someone who is passionate about taking good care of animals.

I found the website & app easy to navigate and setting up your BIO and sit details very straightforward. Communicating through the app worked very well. I received several good responses to my sit request and settled on one ( reviews of their previous sits we’re very helpful). My sitter was excellent giving real peace of mind when you are away.

We travelled hassle free not worrying about our pets as we were convinced they are with some loving people. I would highly recommend this site.

We love everything about Housesitters. We have done about 10 sits in two years on 2 continents, and plan to continue. The concept of no money passing hands. Taking care of the animals, so they do not wind up in kennels. The home owners we meet. New areas and countries to explore. The different personal life styles of the people we meet. The style of the different homes. We have also allready done some repeat sits. We no longer have pets of our own, but loving the pets of the homeowners is a pleasure every time.

GAME CHANGER!On the recommendation of several of our “dog” friends, we registered with THS for sitters for our two Portuguese Water Dogs and our home while we vacationed for a month, which we have just completed. This was an incredible experience made easy by the THS app. We had an amazing couple who took fabulous care of our two dogs and our home.We are already planning our next trip away with confidence, knowing that through THS, we will again find the right sitters for our dogs and home.

I have been using THS for 1.5 years now and I absolutely LOVE it. Not only has it helped me explore new places safely when I went on a road trip, but I’ve been able to make sweet connections with animals along the way. 10/10 recommend – I’ve had nothing but positive experiences.

This site has opened up a world of wonderful experiences. The pets that I have bonded with, their owners, and the places I have had the opportunity to experience have just been a kind of zen and happiness that can’t be explained. There are so many variables amongst the sits posted that everyone should be able to find sits that are accommodating for all. Definitely get in there and snoop around. You won’t be disappointed. This review is asking for a date, but there are many. I try to get one in a month, except for holidays, and then I do sits local to my home. Have fun!!

After meeting a number of charming ‘sitters’, both sitting for my own house and dogs, and those sitting for neighbours, I had a seriously unsatisfactory sitter. Fortunately neighbours and family rallied round. The dogs were OK and it only took a few days to clean up the house.The ‘trusted’ element depends on honest reviews. However it turns out that third party reports of shortcomings/absences/uninvited guests etc. are not valid. They must be first hand. If the house owner is 6,000 miles away that manifestly is impossible! It’s a great idea in theory and also in practice for 90% of cases but it’s the 10% that removes the element of trust that one absolutely must have if one is the other side of the world. Those with bad reviews – whether house owners or sitters should be removed from the listings, even if it does reduce the Trusted House Sitters membership income. Sadly I cannot trust them again.

Don’t trust trusted Housesitters when you need them to sort an issue with the sitter who arrived and stayed for less than 24 hours in total and we had to leave a 10 day once in a lifetime cruise to Iceland as soon as we left our home to go on cruise they left a few minutes later and went to London for 9hrs our elderly dog 14 years old was left traumatised it looks to me there’s a lot of diversity using pronouns she her etc we won’t ever use again. Don’t accept any sitters without at least 5 5 stars ratings which was our biggest mistake their name Minn and other half

I’ve been a member of TrustedHousesitters for 3 years now and it has proven to be an invaluable resource for finding reliable and trustworthy pet and house sitters whenever I need or want to travel –even for short duration trips! I just completed my first week-long trip of the year and was very satisfied with the sitter I chose.

I was heading to Cambodia for 3 months and could not find a friend who was available to house sit. My sister recommended Trusted House Sitters as she had used it in the past with great success. So I sighed up and was able to connect with a wonderful house sitter who took excellent care of my house and plants (I have a lot of them). I was a bit sceptical but Trusted House Sitters proved to be a wonderful solution to my needs.

Trusted Housesitters, not willing to build customer trust. We were super excited to try out this dog-sitting service for our holiday, because leaving our dog behind is always a bit scary! We definitely didn’t want to use a kennel. We had a discount code to make it easier to try it out, but when I tried to use it, they said I couldn’t. Apparently, I’d signed up with my email a long time ago, and that stopped the discount from working. I talked to their customer service, and tried to explain that having my email on file didn’t mean I was a fully fledged customer and really only meant they could send me marketing emails. They insisted they still wouldn’t let me use the code. It’s a bit disappointing, because it felt like they weren’t really trying to help us out, as new customers trying to use their service.

Fabulous organisation. Didn’t realise how easy it would be to find a wonderful couple to housesit/petsit for our month stay away, recently. The app is so easy to use and everything went very smoothly. Great value for money.

I’ve been using Trusted Housesitters for nearly 3 years now and I absolutely love it! From Vietnam to Australia to the UK, it has been a godsend for me when I’m going away somewhere and looking for accommodation. Obviously it’s all about the pets and I’m so grateful to have met so many loving animals.Tip: get some character references to begin with. The more sits and reviews you get, the easier it gets to secure sits.

Trusted Housesitters is a godsend. I have 5-6 sits and every one of them have been with excellent people. I love this sight as I can leave my pet and home confident that both will be well cared for. It’s a win/win situation for both the sitter and the pet owner…great concept…great people…awesome!

We have used Trusted Housesitters 3 x now and the experience just keeps getting better. Good, initial communication and subsequent written instructions is key so that expectations (both ways) are clear and we will continue using this platform. Fantastic platform to use.

The only reason for 4 starts instead of 5 is due to your non-intuitive website. One big impovement would be to allow those looking for a sitter to send 5 requests at once with the same letter. Another issue is that the responses into my gmail box seem to be random. When I receive a response it doesn’t always come through from PetSitter to my gmail. Also, when you send me an email saying that a sitter has saved my listing, I can’t tell who the new response is from as it is posted with all the previous saves with no designation that it is new.

It worked for us , it is reliable , easy to use , maybe they should have a version in French and in Spanish , if you are familiar with the English it is perfect if not it can be a bit difficult to use this organisation , overall I will recommend trustedhousesitters to my friends .

I have been using Trusted House sitters for very many years and basically its great and makes a big difference to my life as a pet owner who travels. Most of the experiences have been overwhelmingly positive. I recommend it to lots and lots of people. Like many others I find the 5 applications cap very restrictive – may be it should be about 10. I also think it should be possible to filter about what you do or don’t want. For example – if you don’t want or don’t have room for a couple or if you prefer a couple.Or if you don’t want an application from somebody outside the country. That would save a lot of wasted time.I think there should also be a channel of private feedback to THS – which one not want to say publicly. I have heard the odd horror story from others, but people didn’t leave a bad reference because they didn’t want to publicly cause upset or be perceived to be unfair or create a backlash. If Trusted House sitters hear the same story a few times, then they can start to build a picture. But if there are private concerns then they should have an outlet.

We have done several sits through Trusted Housesitters and found them all to be very enjoyable and rewarding. It takes some effort to find a good sit – as like Airbnb it relies on the information and photos provided by the pet parents – but so far they have all been really good. The Trusted Housesitters platform is easy to use and recent improvements to the maps make location searches a lot better. We tend to do longer stays of over a month so using Trusted Housesitters gives us some reassurance that if anything does go wrong, there is someone to contact and the insurance provides a useful safety net (not that we have had to use it).

We LOVE Trustedhousesitters! This platform has changed our lives forever. My mom and I were looking for a way to travel, have more time freedom and of course location freedom while we build the life we really want; and House sitting was the answer to the pray.
