We just discovered Getaround in our latest trip to Norway. Great way to rent cars at a cheaper cost.

Great platform, easy to use, personal help in case needed. But still a little expensive for private cars. I recommend !

App is not very reliable- displays wrong car location, does not reliably end the rental (rental missing in the List with error message) and did not lock the car at the end

Facile, claire, efficace

Worst assistance ever! We had a car issue (breaks went down), we were in the mountain, it was freezing cold and we had to call at least 15 times to get the road assistance. We were in Austria but our call has been transfered to Germany, then Spain, then the US, then France and finally came back to Austria… We didn’t manage to get home before 9pm (issue reported at 1pm) and did it on our own has the road assistance never sent the taxi but told us to arrange ourselves and send them the bill. We already had some car issues before and never had to go through so obstacles nor wait for so long.

I rented a Citroën C3 GN732KW via the Getaround application from ‘En Voiture Germaine’ from Paris Charles de Gaulle airport, and let me tell you—it was an absolute FIASCO from start to finish.1. Communication? What Communication?The pre-rental information was a mess — vague at best, inaccurate, and utterly useless. Initially, the car was supposed to be parked in an underground garage at the Mercure Hotel (PR parking), Charles de Gaulle Airport. Less than 30 minutes before pickup, the location changed without warning. The new instructions? As clear as mud.2. A Rolling Trash HeapQuestion: What’s the difference between a trash can and the GN732KW Citroën C3?Answer: A trash can has handles, but at least it doesn’t pretend to be roadworthy.The exterior of the car was FILTHY — so dirty that it was impossible to tell if the multiple marks were scratches, dents, or just years of accumulated grime. Clearly, the car hadn’t been washed in weeks—possibly months.3. Danger on the A77 motorway: When “Maintenance” Is Just a Suggestion…Picture this: I’m driving down the A77 motorway at 130 km/h, and it starts to rain. I go to use the windshield washer… Nothing. Not a drop :-(I stopped at the nearest petrol station, filled up the screen wash container—only to discover that it was badly leaking. The washer system was completely broken!!!At this point, I had to ask myself: When was this car last checked for safety? Has it EVER been inspected?I immediately contacted both Getaround and ‘En Voiture Germaine’. Instead of taking responsibility, they played a pathetic game of ‘ping-pong’, bouncing the blame between each other, hoping I’d eventually give up and go away. I only had the car for seven days, and they wasted time deliberately ignoring the issue.Let me remind them of some basic facts:A. Windshield washer fluid is a legal requirement in France. A car must have a functioning system—otherwise, it fails inspection.B. If stopped by the French Gendarmerie, I could have been fined €68 for a third-category offense. Would ‘En Voiture Germaine’ have covered that fine? Doubtful.4. The Mystery of the Missing AerialAs if the rental couldn’t get any worse—no proper FM stations the entire time. At the end of the rental, I discovered why.The radio aerial was missing. Someone—either a previous renter or ‘En Voiture Germaine’ themselves —had removed it and left it in a door pocket. Another clear sign that this car was never checked before being rented out.To this day, I have received no explanation, no apology, and certainly no financial refund for this miserable experience.Final Verdict: AVOID AT ALL COSTSIf you can afford to rent from Hertz, Avis, or any reputable national car rental company—DO IT. Save yourself the headache. Getaround clearly don’t care about safety, customer experience, or even basic maintenance.This wasn’t just a bad rental. It was a joke—except no one was laughing 🙁

Easy access to the car, which was clean and easy to drive. Th code of the key wasn’t easy to find, but I could reach somebody immediately.

Super friendly host – took us through all the functions on the car.. Provided kids chair and booster seat for our kids. Dropped us off at the airport. Sent links for charging electric. Overall good service and a great car, also in snow!

These people are greedy and unprofessional, it’s hard to get in contact with someone. I lost time and had to wait for my money to be returned because a car they had listed wasn’t at location and they couldn’t help at all. They took a payment without my permission. Watch these people!

I created my account and was asked to verify my profile. After submitting all the necessary documents, I was informed that the verification would take up to 2 hours. It’s now been a week, and my account is still not verified. I was planning to use the app by the end of this week, but it looks like I’ll have to turn to a rental company instead. I also reached out to customer support via email yesterday, but I’ve yet to hear back from them. My ticket number is #4703538. Terrible experience so far!

Everything was great!

During rental everything went well. The owner of the car was very nice with us. Only, after the rental, she incriminated us of a damage that was there before our location, and that we had taken a picture of and reported on the app before starting the rental. I am therefore very sad about the turn this rental took in the end. I am still waiting for getaway’s response on that matter, because the franchise and caution is still being held from me although we are innocent of any damage on that car.

Car rental in Tromsø. The app worked well. No problems.

WORST RENTAL EXPERIENCE. DO NOT USE. They send conflicting locations of rental car. In Nice they are NOT AT THE AIRPORT. Be warned: they a tram ride away. The parking structure was locked. (Able to access after several attempts of using intercom call button). Then once in building you cannot access car. Lost 45 minutes for a 6 hour rental. Nightmare. Non existant customer service.
